Governor Hochul takes control–rescinds release of Bronx punching suspect

NEW YORK, NEW YORK -(77-WABC)- New York Governor Kathy Hochul says it was time to take things into her own hands, and put a man back in jail after he was shockingly released without bail after allegedly sucker punching a man outside a Bronx restaurant last week.
55 year old Bui Van Phu was facing attempted murder charges in the attack outside the restaurant on 188th street on Jesus Cortes last Friday–which was caught on video. Hochul consulting with authorities–including the Bronx District Attorney.
Bui was ultimately charged with assault and harassment, and was given supervised release before being taken back into custody Friday morning.
